hi mal, thanks. please let me try to explain how I set the light for this movie. the scene is lit indirectly. all light is coming from the light bouncing off the wall behind them. the light is embracing them from behind, and what actually gives texture and shape to the bodies are reflections in their oily skin. to me this gives a beautiful and subtle ambience that is not in your face, and leaves some room for your imagination. if I were to add any frontal light on this set, it would definitely ruin the mood. ph

Hey Peter, thanks for your "look behind the scenes" and explaining the light situation. I think it's also very difficult because of the 2 very different skin colors. If Rick is OK, Ombeline is too dark, if Ombeline is OK, Rick will be too bright. But I think, you can fix it a bit in the postproduction/grading. There's a scene between app 19:30 and 20:40, the contrast, black levels or addjustments are not so strong or dark set as in the rest of the film. Maybe the result would be a bit more washed-looked or flat, but a bit more to see the action. But - as always - it's a question of taste.
