We set up a base between the palms, the two gay stylists oils up the models, and we do the white American Apparel shoot with all the girls. Only after were we told we were shooting in crocodile infested waters. So now I understood why the driver was set to overlook the shoot from the shore.

A whole lot of flesh was in that water...

After we returned to the base I continued shooting in and around the hotel, and as the sun was setting I jumped into the waves with my camera held high to capture some of the girls childishly splashing in the water.

But obviously I was not careful enough; my camera suddenly stopped functioning and I got a "communication error" displayed on my trusted Hassy.

I rushed back to my hut to replace it with my back up camera house, but I got the same message. We tried to dry it with a hair dryer, sucked on all openings through some tissue paper to get out any humidity, but nothing helped.

It was a desperate situation, we were on day 3 out of 8 and we had no camera, and we are in the jungle of Southern Mexico!

Luckily my colleague Santiago, who traveled with me from Barcelona, had local contacts after working for 5 years in Mexico City. He made some phone calls, and miraculously there was a Hasselblad H2 only a 3 hour drive from our location. Probably the only one in Southern Mexico!

So the next morning we have the replacement camera and the fiesta can continue.

Phew...
